Setting Up a Single-Answer Matrix Grid Question
Rate many items on the same scale in one compact grid — rows for items, columns for the scale.
Overview
Rate many items on the same scale in one compact grid — rows for items, columns for the scale. One grid replaces a page of repeated scale questions.
Step-by-step
Add the question — click + Question and choose Grid (single-answer matrix).

Fill the rows — one row per item to rate ("Speed", "Reliability", "Ease of use", "Value").
Fill the columns — the scale, in order ("Strongly disagree" → "Strongly agree"). Every row shares these columns; that consistency is what makes rows comparable.
Keep it small — aim for at most 6–8 rows and 5–7 columns. Bigger grids drive straight-lining (respondents clicking down one column) and mobile misery.
Preview on Phone — toggle the Live preview to Phone: grids adapt on small screens, and the preview shows exactly how.
Tips
Tip: If you have more than ~8 items, split them across two grids on separate pages or rotate row order (randomization) so later rows aren't systematically penalized by fatigue.
Note: Need multiple answers per row ("Select all channels you use for each activity")? That's the multi-answer grid — a separate type covered in Setting Up a Multi-Answer Checkbox Grid.
