Deleting a Question from Your Survey
Remove a question you no longer need — and know what happens to logic that referenced it.
Overview
Remove a question you no longer need — and know what happens to logic that referenced it.
Prerequisites
- The survey must be in Draft status. Deleting questions is disabled on Live and Paused surveys because collected answers depend on them.
Step-by-step
Click the trash icon — it's in the question card's header row, next to the duplicate icon.
Confirm — the question and its configuration are removed, and the questions below it renumber automatically.
Check your logic — if other questions had skip or display rules pointing at the deleted question, revalidate them: open Tools → Logic validator to catch rules left dangling.
Tips
Tip: Not sure you'll need it again? Duplicate the question into a survey you keep as scratch space, or Save to Library first — deletion has no undo beyond the toolbar's undo arrow in the current session.
Note: Deleting a question from a Draft that never collected data is clean. If your survey already collected responses in an earlier Live phase, prefer pausing and re-thinking — deleting is blocked precisely so historical answers stay interpretable.
