What Counts as a Billable Complete in Surveti
The exact rule for when a response consumes one of your monthly completes — and what never counts.
Overview
The exact rule for when a response consumes one of your monthly completes. This rule is platform-wide and applied identically to every workspace — no per-tenant exceptions.
The rule
An attempt counts once it answers 5 questions or reaches an end state — finished, screened out, or over quota — whichever comes first.
What never counts
- Abandons under 5 answered questions
- Consent declines
- Blocked bots

What surprises people
- Screen-outs count. Someone disqualified by your screener engaged with the survey, so they consume a complete. Budget for your incidence rate.
- Quota-full respondents count. Same reasoning.
- Deleting doesn't refund. Deleting responses or projects later doesn't un-count a complete — a consumed complete stays consumed.
- Every counted attempt is stamped with when and why it counted, so the number is auditable.
Tips
Tip: A 30%-incidence study burns roughly 3× your target completes, because the 70% you screen out still count. Work backwards from that when choosing a plan or setting quotas.
Note: The counter runs on the UTC calendar month, not your billing anniversary — usage resets on the 1st at 00:00 UTC.
