Building a Single-Answer Rating Grid
Rate many items on one shared scale in a compact grid — rows are the items, columns are the scale points.
Overview
Rate many items on one shared scale in a compact grid — rows are the items, columns are the scale points. One grid replaces a whole page of repeated scale questions.
Step-by-step
Add the question — click + Question and choose Grid.

Fill the Row Labels — one row per item to rate ("Speed", "Reliability", "Value").
Fill the Column Headers — the shared scale in order ("Strongly disagree" → "Strongly agree").
Choose the Display — Table (grid) for desktop, or Carousel (one row at a time) which is far kinder on phones.
Preview on Phone — toggle the Live preview to Phone to see how the grid adapts.
Key options
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Display: Table | Classic grid, all rows visible |
| Display: Carousel | Shows one row at a time — better on mobile |
| N/A column | Adds an explicit "not applicable" column |
Tips
Tip: Keep grids to ~6–8 rows. Long grids cause straight-lining (respondents clicking down one column) — split big batteries across two grids or randomize row order.
